Skin It 2 Win It Randonee Race will have teams of 1, 2 & 4 persons skinning from the base of Dollar Mountain to the summit where they will remove their skins and ski back to the start to hand off their baton to the next teammate. Racers will complete as many laps as possible in 5 hours. The distance is approx. 1.3 miles and 600 vertical feet.
This is a fund raising event for the Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche Center. Entry fee is $50/person. Racers are encouraged to secure sponsors to cover entry fee and beyond. Hot drinks & food will be provided for racers. Awards will be same day at Dollar Lodge @ 4:30. Prizes will be awarded for fastest lap, most laps completed, best costume, and most money sponsored.

Alturas Lake Trail Ski and Apres Ski Dinner at Smiley Creek Lodge
Spend the day skiing one of the hidden gems of the central Idaho Nordic trail network. Alturas Lake Ski trail winds 16 km along Alturas Lake Creek and through the meadows to Alturas Lake. The trail is groomed for skating and classic and features fantastic views of the Sawtooth Mountains. This is a noncompetitive event. Whether you are new to these trails or they are old friends from the Busterback days, you will enjoy this terrific trail system.

Taking place on Sundays in January at 11am these clinics are designed to get you ready for the Boulder Mountain Tour on February 4. The Ketchum Sun Valley Ski and Heritage Museums are pleased to announce the 2012 Sun Valley Ski Hall of Fame Inductee’s. The Alpine Committee has selected: Dick Durrance, Warren Miller, Janette Burr Johnson, Pete Patterson and Michel Rudigoz. The Nordic Committee has selected Bill & Annie Vanderbilt, N’tala Skinner, Charley French, Hans Muehlegger and Jenny Busdon
The 2012 Induction ceremony will be at the Ski and Heritage Museum on Wednesday, February 1st, at 4:00 pm. The celebration includes live music, drinks, and a brief presentation and speech by each athlete.
The Ski Museum has dedicated an exhibition area in the Ski Museum to house the laser engraved plaques of The Sun Valley Ski Hall of Fame.
The process for nomination is done by committee and nomination, one for Nordic and another for Alpine. Each committee has several members, all dedicated athletes who continue to work in their sport areas. Each committee member works to find the top inductees for the year, people who have excelled in their sport and given back to the greater Sun Valley community. The Inductees are honored with a party and a permanent plaque in the Ski Museum which highlights their contributions to their sport.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is an inspiring international film competition featuring the world’s best footage on mountain subjects, is the largest traveling film festival in the world and will showcase over 15 films over two nights in Ketchum.
All proceeds from the film festival support the Friends of the Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche Center and the Satipo Kids Project. The Satipo Kids Project funds 38 school children from Peru to attend school.
The Friends will hold a raffle during the event, giving away skis, snowshoes, packs, clothing, avalanche gear, an overnight at a Sun Valley Trekking Yurt and gift certificates to local business.
