Join the BCRD to kick off the week long Sun Valley Nordic festival at this year's "Ski the Rails!" Enjoy a fun, family friendly tour at your own pace along 12 miles of groomed trails starting in Ketchum and ending in Hailey, Idaho.

Spend the day skiing one of the hidden gems of the central Idaho Nordic trail network. Alturas Lake Ski trail winds 16 km along Alturas Lake Creek and through the meadows to Alturas Lake. The trail is groomed for skating and classic and features fantastic views of the Sawtooth Mountains.
Alturas Lake Ski Trail is part of the 200 km trails challenge.
After a great day of skiing, come to Smiley Creek Lodge for a Swiss style apres ski buffet between 3 pm and 7 pm. Originally this event was planned to end at 6pm, but we have extended to 7pm, so everyone can come for a ski and mingle after work. Can't wait to see you all there!

Instead of skiing during your lunch hour, come join in the fun for the first annual Sun Valley 5K Snowshoe Challenge. A noon hour fun run snowshoe event utilizing the varied terrain of the White Cloud Nine golf course. Runners will be confronted with groomed trail, packed snowshoe single track, and sections of crosscountry travel.

REGISTRATION: Register at www.active.com December 1, 2009 -midnight February 2, 2010. Race day registration will be available from 9am-11:30am at the Nordic Center.

START TIME: 12 NOON
We will have a limited number of Atlas race/run snowshoes available for the race. They will be issued first come, first served. We will not be restricting snowshoe dimensions, use any size you desire.
Awards will be given to the top male and top female followed by a raffle for all entrants.
Bibs will be collected after the race for recycling to other events.
Be sure to stick around for the Nordic Sprint races!

Sol'Jibe blends American roots, world beat, and Latin rhythms into an inspired sound that has been dubbed "World Pop.” In addition to great music, the evening will include friendly races and Nordic competitions, a bonfire, and warm refreshments at the future site of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum. 5:30-7:30pm. Join the Idaho Conservation League for a half-day of ski touring in the foothills of the Boulder Mountains.
With our guide, we will tour along the southwestern edge of the Boulder-White Cloud proposed wilderness area. The tour is open to people of all abilities, as we will be staying on mostly flat terrain enjoying the view.
Don’t forget your lunch and water. If you need ski touring gear, Backwoods and The Elephants Perch have great rental fleets.
We will meet at the SNRA parking lot at 9:45 am to carpool the remainder of the way.

Everyone entered in the 35th Boulder Mountain Tour will need to pick up their Race Bibs and Clothing Bags along with last minute race information, wave seeding information, souvenirs and promotional materials on Friday February 5th at the Boulder Mountain Tour Expo from 10:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. in Ketchum at the YMCA on the corner of Warm Springs Road and Saddle Road. Look for the Boulder Mountain Tour banners. For entrants arriving in Sun Valley after 8:00 p.m. on Friday there will be late bib pickup at Galena Lodge till 9:00 a.m. on race day.
There will be plenty of excitement at the Expo with sponsor exhibits and elbow rubbing with some of the best skiers in the country. Plan to spend a few extra minutes visiting with eqipement representatives and fellow skiers prepping for the next days race. |

For the first time ever, the Boulder Mountain Tour will offer a Half-Boulder. The 15km course will follow the bottom half of the regular BMT race course and be a part of the usual finish area. Skiers will start near the Baker Creek parking area at approximately 10:45 am. As the first three waves of the BMT pass this area, the Half-Boulder skiers will merge into the traffic headed south for the finish line at the SNRA Headquarters. This will be a great opportunity for novice and young skiers to participate in the BMT and find out what all the fun is about. There is no age limit on participating so it doesn't matter how young or how old you are. There is even a special registration price for a parent a child under ten.
